We know that our next adventure in the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) takes us to Skyrim. But the land of the Nords is vast. Now there is a hint about which area we may explore.
Where will the ESO story take us next? During the Game Awards, Zenimax showed a video of The Elder Scrolls Online, at the end of which we see Skyrim and it is mentioned that we will travel to Skyrim.
Where is the journey going?
What hints do we have now? However, it is unclear which areas in Skyrim we will exactly explore. A letter that Zenimax sent to some ESO players now provides a new hint.
The letter contained a mysterious map that is not so easy to decipher. A few locations are marked, but the larger context is missing to really pinpoint which area it is.
What does the community believe? Fans of ESO are now of course trying to figure out where the journey goes. We know it is a place in Skyrim. Based on that and the markings on the map, some players believe to know that we are heading to the Rift province. This area fits the map the best.
What would that mean? If it really is Rift, then the mysterious symbol at the bottom of the map might hint at the Daedric Princess of Night and Darkness, Nocturnal, and her shrine. This would mean that the other red marking on the map belongs to the Nordic ruins of Angarvunde.
Will we see Angarvunde and the Nightingales?
Why would this fit? In the teaser trailer from the Game Awards, it was said that we would explore the Dark Heart of Skyrim. Dark Heart would fit well with Nocturnal, the Lady of Night.
If this is true, what could await us? If the hints really point to Nocturnal and Angarvunde, then it might mean that the Nightingales play an important role. The secret guild of thieves has dedicated itself to Nocturnal.
Meanwhile, in Angarvunde, we could expect deep catacombs full of Draugr and traps. How this could fit together is still unclear at the moment.
When will we learn more? Zenimax will hold a livestream on January 16, 2020, at 11 PM, where the developers will reveal more about the next chapter of the MMORPG ESO. Then we will find out how 2020 will proceed with The Elder Scrolls Online.
