The shooter Scavengers is not just a mix of various genres, such as survival and battle royale. It also features large-scale battles, which have so far only been accessible to a small test audience. However, there will soon be another test where you can join as well.
What is the deal with the large-scale battles? In Scavengers, 60 players regularly play in 20 teams of 3 in a wild battle royale that also includes PvE and survival elements. Colleague Benedict Grothaus calls it, due to its somewhat moderated pace, “Fortnite for older people”
But at the end of April 2021, a test for a significantly larger battle took place. About 1,700 players from America and Europe fought on a huge battlefield, with thousands of NPCs joining in.
In the end, over 9,000 characters came together to engage in a massive shooting spree. The revolutionary new technology SpatialOS made it possible.
The event back then was not publicly accessible. That is about to change soon.
Big large-scale battle for everyone – Here’s how to participate!
When does it start again? On May 29, 2021, at 8:00 PM our time, you can participate in the test event for the large-scale battles on Steam.
How can you participate in the large-scale battle? You just need to start Scavengers on Steam or through the Epic Games Launcher and select the ScavLab mode in the lobby. This is a test environment for features like the large-scale battles.
What can you expect in the large-scale battles? On the day of the event, you can participate in athletic mini-game competitions, engage in massive battles, and join a live digital Q&A session with the CEO and co-founder of Midwinter Entertainment, Josh Holmes.

With this event, players will get a first look at the unprecedented scale and gameplay possibilities of ScavLab. We will test the functionalities and gameplay ideas with up to 5,000 players in a shared environment – with the potential for more such future events.
Our main goal is to create an experience that people want to participate in for fun, and with each ScavLab event, we will try a few new things to achieve this. We really hope that the community will join us on this crazy journey.
