Which shooter are we talking about? Planetside 2 is a free-to-play shooter available on PC, for example via Steam, and on consoles. The title celebrated its release 10 years ago, in November 2012.
Planetside 2 has a futuristic setting and lets you battle against many other players from a first-person perspective.
The shooter is especially known for its gigantic battles, where hundreds of players face off against each other and can also access various vehicles. In 2020, Planetside 2 also received a story campaign.

Which record does Planetside 2 want to break? As the developer studio announced on the official website of Planetside 2, the shooter aims to break the world record for the most players in a single battle on November 5, 2022.
What is the current record? The current record holder is also Planetside 2. With a total of 1,283 players, the shooter set the current world record on March 28, 2020.
With this, Planetside 2 broke the world record that officially existed since 2015, recorded in the Guinness World Records. There, 1,158 players are noted in a single match – also in Planetside 2 (via guinnessworldrecords.com).
Solid Player Numbers Even After 10 Years
How many players does Planetside 2 have? Even 10 years after its release, the shooter is still played by some fans.
On Steam, Planetside 2 can still show an average of 1,527 concurrent players over the last 30 days, keeping up with popular titles such as Titanfall 2 from “Apex Legends” developer Respawn or the fighting game MultiVersus released in summer 2022:
