The Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek has been playing a lot of Marvel Rivals lately and is considering starting his own e-sport team. Now he claims that he has already been contacted by many organizations regarding the team.
Here is the background: The Twitch streamer has recently been showcasing the hero shooter Marvel Rivals. He is particularly fond of it and shroud stated that he likes the game so much that he is considering starting a team in e-sports.
He raised the possibility that if he reaches a donation goal of 1 million US dollars during his current Subathon, he would set up the organization or team.
What was initially dismissed by many in the community, as shroud had previously expressed similar enthusiasm for other shooters, is now becoming more concrete.
“Thousands of meetings have already taken place”
In a clip posted on X, shroud says that since he expressed his love for the hero shooter, he has already been contacted by several organizations:
Many top organizations have messaged me, trying to bring me into the Marvel Rivals scene to start a team in the game. I’m not joking. Thousands of meetings have already taken place.
Even though the interest from professional organizations is already a next step, it is still not something concrete. Shroud himself said he doesn’t know if he can really reach the goal of 1 million US dollars.
What does the community think? Many voices are critical and, like with shroud’s initial statement, do not really believe in an e-sport team from him:
- inhuman (via X): “For marketing, like with his Valorant run”
- tweetsofWIZARD (via X): “Thousands of organizations are messaging me too”
- zoharaim (via X): “Shroud on his 17th journey”
Fans of shroud are skeptical of the hype
Why is this viewed so skeptically? Shroud had only recently praised the Steam game Deadlock extensively and even neglected his own game for it. That he is now so quickly excited about another shooter raises skepticism.
In the past, shroud had not covered himself in glory. In 2022, he grandly announced that he would help the esports team Sentinals with their victories in Valorant and had a huge comeback for it. However, after just a few months the hype was over and he could not lead the e-sport team to victory.
It is understandable that the community is somewhat skeptical of shroud’s statements.
Whether shroud will actually start an organization around Marvel Rivals remains to be seen. As long as he provides nothing concrete, the community will likely remain skeptical.
Marvel Rivals enjoys a high player count and hype. The game has already had its own Twitch Rivals event where Twitch streamers competed against each other in the game. However, one Twitch streamer was not satisfied with it: Streamer complains to Twitch about Marvel Rivals, wants to speak to the manager
