Actually, the new Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone was supposed to start soon. However, it has now been announced that the new season will be postponed.
Postponement of Season 4: Just one day before the official launch of Season 4 for CoD: Modern Warfare and the Battle Royale mode Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the developers announced via Twitter that the new season will be delayed – as well as the start of Season 7 for Call of Duty: Mobile.
Everything we know so far about the new season can be found here: CoD MW & Warzone: Season 4 starts soon – All facts, leaks, rumors
This is the reason for the postponement: The developers are taking a clear stance on the recent developments in the USA, like many other industry figures.
After the brutal police action in Minneapolis on May 25, where African American George Floyd lost his life, massive unrest occurred in numerous major cities across the country. Many are protesting for more justice and against racism and excessive police violence.
The tweet from the official Call of Duty account states:
This was the original plan: The new Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone was originally supposed to launch tomorrow, June 3.
There was already a first trailer, but the traditional roadmap was still pending yesterday, which is unusual. Now we know why.
When is Season 4 of CoD MW & Warzone supposed to start now? There is no exact date yet. It is only said that the new Season 4 should start at a later time. Whether this means just a few days or possibly a longer delay remains to be seen.
As soon as there is a new development, you will hear about it here on MeinMMO as quickly as possible.
Activision is not the only one: In addition to Activision and Call of Duty, Sony has also postponed its event for the PS5 that was planned for this week. The reason given was that they want more important voices to be heard.
Other developers also reacted to the situation in the USA and took a clear stance on the events there – such as Bungie, the makers of Destiny.
By the way, we at MeinMMO and our sister sites GameStar and GamePro have also taken a stance on this matter:
What are the players saying? The community views this issue with mixed opinions. Many appreciate that the video game industry is taking a clear stance and raising awareness of injustices worldwide.
However, some cannot understand how this will help solve the problem or why others must “suffer” from the delays. After all, this is a problem in the USA and does not affect the entire world.
What do you think? Can you understand the postponement or at least see the reasoning? Or do you think it’s wrong?
