Developers have a sense of humor and often hide Easter eggs in their games, which are meant to make players smile. So it is in Ubisoft’s online shooter RPG The Division. The developers seem to be big fans of the movie “Shaun of the Dead” by director Edgar Wright.
Through the Fence!
In the film, a zombie apocalypse occurs and Shaun (played by Simon Pegg) wants to escape with his girlfriend and friends to the local pub, hoping to be safe there. Shaun of the Dead is part of Edgar Wright’s “The Cornetto” trilogy, where there is a recurring scene: The “heroes” try to flee over garden fences, which never works out.
In the currently ongoing beta of Ubisoft’s The Division, there is a spot in the game world where someone has attempted the same. While investigating the scene and realizing that someone apparently wanted to jump over the fence but instead knocked it over, one hears the corresponding dialogue from the matching scene in the movie “Shaun of the Dead”.
Easter Eggs are Just Fun!
So even in a dark world full of chaos and terrorism, there is still plenty of humor. One can be curious about what other Easter eggs Ubisoft has hidden in the MMO.
