This week, there were many news updates in the world of MMORPGs. Especially in the games under development, a lot has happened, and some betas and alphas are scheduled for September 2022. We at MeinMMO summarize the highlights.
The highlights of the week:
- The Beta of World of Warcraft Dragonflight has started and is live for the time being. Now much more people can access the Dragon Isles than before.
- New World announces a new update with Brimestone Sands. It brings a new area, the Greatsword as a weapon, and many more highlights.
- For the 10th anniversary of Guild Wars 2, we spoke with the developers about the game’s beginnings, and about how this MMORPG was never meant to exist.
- Ashes of Creation shows its entire world map, revealing that it will be 32 times larger than Skyrim.
The controversy of the week: The MMORPG Bless Unleashed was released in 2020 and started successfully. Now the PS4 and Xbox One versions are shutting down the servers again.
The discussion of the week: The head of Final Fantasy XIV says that players should take their time with the new content – it ends just as you might think.

This is what happened with the major MMORPGs:
- The head of Guild Wars 2 exclaims that the MMORPG is doing incredibly well, even though its launch on Steam has been rather mediocre. Coinciding with the Steam release and the anniversary, there is also a mount of your choice being given away.
- In Lost Ark, you can currently snag 6 months of crystalline aura for just 20 euros using a trick. Additionally, a player on reddit opened 1,000 legendary card packs and had rather disappointing results.
- Black Desert introduces new monster zones and some new events with the next update (via massivelyop).
This is what happened with the minor MMORPGs:
- Mortal Online 2 brings many features and new points of interest in the latest update, along with some bug fixes (via massivelyop).
- Dungeons and Dragons Online introduces new class archetypes and also some new features (via massivelyop).
- Maplestory 2 announces that they need to shut down their servers in China later this year (via massivelyop).
- ArcheAge Unchained will bring Fresh-Start servers without timegates on September 15 (via mmorpg.com).

What has happened with the MMORPGs in development?
- The sandbox MMORPG Embers Adrift explains in a new video in just one minute what the game is about. Additionally, there will be an open beta for the game on September 16 (via massivelyop).
- The Minecraft MMORPG Wynncraft is also starting a final beta before the launch (via massivelyop).
- The Wagadu Chronicles is not yet at beta, but is starting a second alpha later in September (via mmorpg.com).
- On September 12, the controversial MMORPG DreamWorld will enter early access on Steam (via mmorpg.com).
- Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis has already been successful on PC and Xbox, and it has now launched on the PS4.
- Also, Fractured Online can be played for free just before its release on September 15. A new trailer was released featuring music by Lara Loft.
- The Kickstarter indie MMORPG Genfanad will be released on Steam on September 27 and will be available for everyone (via massivelyop).
