In Pokémon GO there are monsters with varying rarity. But what are the rarest Pokémon species and what makes them so special?
This is shown in our list: Here we list the Pokémon species that are the rarest. This is not just about a single Pokémon, but about groups.
There are also numerous individual Pokémon that are incredibly rare. We have listed them for you here:
These are the 6 rarest monsters in Pokémon GO – Something went wrong with them
These Pokémon species are the rarest
Shinies in the wild: Most players have probably caught some Shinies in the wild. The chance for this is low, as it is 1 in 450. Shinies are therefore definitely among the rarer Pokémon.
Regional Pokémon: Some Pokémon are only available in specific regions of the world. So you may have to travel quite a distance if you want to have all regional Pokémon . We show you all Regionals:
- Gen 1: Pantimos, Kangama, Tauros, Porenta
- Gen 2: Skaraborn, Corasonn
- Gen 3: Volbeat, Ilumise, Tropius, Sengo, Vipitis, Qurtel, Sonnfel, Lunastein, Relicanth
- Gen 4: Plaudagei, Pachirisu, Venuflibis, Schalellos
The legendary lake trio: Selfe, Tobutz and Vesprit are also all regional Pokémon, but they are also legendary. So they are likely to be even harder to obtain, as they are incredibly rare in the wild and otherwise only found in raids.
Pokémon with 100% IV: If you have Pokémon with 100% IV, then you can consider yourself lucky, as they are quite rare in some cases. The chance of catching a Pokémon with these IV in the wild is 1 in 4096, if it is not weather-boosted.
Shiny event Pokémon: Normal Shinies are already rare, but some Shinies are only available for a few days, which makes them even rarer. This includes, for example, special hat Pikachu or Eevee with flower crown.
These Pokémon are only available for 2 days or less and it takes quite a bit of luck to get such an event Pokémon.
Shiny Pokémon from eggs: Some Pokémon can only be obtained from eggs and if they are Shiny, then the chance is not very high. Alolan Pokémon and baby Pokémon are available in eggs and the chance of a Shiny is about 1 in 40-50.
That doesn’t sound like too few, but you first have to hatch 40 potential Shiny candidates. That can take some time.
Rare egg Pokémon: If new Pokémon are released and they are also good, they are usually found in 10 km eggs. The same goes for Riolu and Kaumalat. While Riolu is becoming somewhat more common, Kaumalat is almost never found in eggs.
Kaumalat can also be found in the wild, but it is also rare here. Presumably, such Pokémon will also be released in future generations, and the hunt for them remains difficult. One can only hope that these Pokémon will become more common over time through events. Until then, they belong to the rarest Pokémon in the game.
Some Shinies are still missing in Pokémon GO. We will show them to you:
