Secret World Legends, the remake of The Secret World, will be a free-to-play game. How exactly the free gaming experience will unfold has not been clear until now. However, information about the business model has since surfaced.
Secret World Legends will be a free-to-play game, unlike The Secret World. Unlike the original, you no longer have to purchase the horror MMO; you can simply download it and start playing.
But how does it look with real-money spending and microtransactions?
Secret World Legends – Is everything free?
There is now new information about the business model of Secret World Legends. The game uses two currencies – Marks of Favour and Aurum.
- Marks of Favour refers to a flexible in-game currency that you acquire regularly in the game. With it, you can buy items from other players in the auction house, additional usable weapon types, potion refills, dungeon keys, social items, and more.
- Aurum is the premium currency of Secret World Legends. You purchase it using real money and can acquire new character slots, cosmetic items, and boosters, among other things.
However, it is also possible to buy Aurum directly with Marks of Favour. A player just needs to offer enough Aurum. The price is automatically regulated by supply and demand. The whole system works the other way around as well. You can buy Aurum with real money and exchange it for Marks of Favour. Essentially, this is legal gold selling. A similar real-money exchange system is used by WildStar and Eve Online.
