You can find a whole bunch of crazy Easter eggs in Dying Light 2. One of them is the famous Force Choke of Darth Vader from Star Wars. But before you can become the actual Sith Lord, you need to go through a long quest for evil rubber ducks and a tribute to the shooter classic DOOM. What kind of weapon is this? Weapons in Dying Light 2 are usually crude clubs and improvised blades, which can only be repaired with this trick. Better weapons are bows and the crossbow, but there are even crazier ways to take out your enemies.
One of them is the legendary “Force Choke”. Those who know Star Wars probably know that this refers to the “trick” of Sith Lord Darth Vader. He can simply choke annoying individuals with the power of his thoughts and thus strangle them from a distance.
And you can learn this cool ability in Dying Light 2 to hold and choke your enemies with the Force. But mastering this trick requires a long and arduous journey to the dark side.
How to find all the evil rubber ducks
Huh? Why rubber ducks? Yes, you are indeed supposed to find rubber ducks scattered throughout the city. However, the ducks are evil and have glowing red eyes. When you collect them, you hear dreadful demonic grunting in the background.
So we are dealing with particularly malicious rubber ducks! You can find the grim bathtub companions from hell at the following locations in the city. However, you must first complete the story mission “Broadcast”.
- Houndfield: Go to the Houndfield district in the northwest. There is a heavily contaminated area where you can reach the duck with a daring jump. So pack enough immunity boosters.
- Wharf: In the north, by the docks, there is a sunken police car. An evil rubber duck was probably last arrested inside, as it is still in the vehicle. You can reach it by swimming.
- Observatory west of the Garrison District: Find the Mount Lucid Observatory west of the Garrison District. The evil duck is in the tower next to the entrance. However, you need the grappling hook to get up there.
- Lower Dam Ayre: This duck is actually just sitting on a post on a skull at the docks. As mentioned, they are EVIL ducks. Since the environment is full of poison, you should glide there.
- VNC Tower: You should collect this duck last, as the following secret DOOM level is just in the basement of the VNC Tower. Take the elevator to the very top. There you will find a blue ramp. Rope down from there to swing into the room directly below. There is a safe in there that you open with the combination 6-6-6 (obviously, right?). Inside waits the last of the evil ducks.

How to find the DOOM level
What do I do now with the unholy ducks? Then immediately take the elevator down to the basement of the VNC Tower. There you will find a flooded section that you should bravely swim through. At the end, you can enter a creepy room. There are 5 altars of evil on which you will place the grim ducks. Afterwards, you need to connect the cables in the shape of a pentagram.
If all of this has happened, a shotgun will appear in the middle of the room and you can enter the secret DOOM level.
What? DOOM? Yes, it gets even more absurd because you now enter a pixelated level where you have to forgo all your previous abilities. You can’t even jump. But that wasn’t the case in DOOM either, as this level is clearly inspired by the shooter ancestor.
For this, you get a double-barreled shotgun and with it, you can blow away a lot of zombies.
At the end of the level, you can even expect a thank-you letter from the developers, in which they thank the Doom devs for the inspiration.
How to find the Force Choke
Yes, nice, but where is my Force Choke now? While you run through the DOOM level and blow away zombies, you need to collect crystals. In the green area, there is a blueprint book that’s hard to see due to the pixel graphics, located directly under one of the crystals.
How do I craft the Choke? With the blueprint, you can craft the choke as a “weapon” called Dead Force using 369 scrap parts. This can be used 16 times and causes your enemies to float breathlessly before you for a while. You can then simply smash them with your weapons.
In the red area of the level, you can also find a blueprint with an Easter egg: The sword of Link from Zelda!
On the other hand, if you prefer to blow away your enemies with the power of imaginary guns, you can grab another secret super weapon: This is how you get the absurdly powerful finger gun “Left Finger of gLoVa”.
