Seasons are an important innovation in Destiny 2 – but what is actually behind it?

Most clan members among you may already know: We are currently in “Season 1”.
If you go to your clan profile on the Bungie site, you can see your progress there. The clan level as well as the Guardian Oath score are indicated – and it states: “Season 1”.
Recently, we learned that the new Iron Banner in Destiny 2 is tied to this Season system. This PvP event will have daily and seasonal milestones to measure your progress.
But: What are these Seasons actually about?
All the info about the Season system will come in October
In fact, Bungie has not provided any concrete info about Seasons so far. Only now is Bungie bringing up this term and announces:
- All info about Seasons will be revealed on Friday, October 20, during the TwitchCon via livestream. The time is 4:30 pm Pacific – that is in the middle of the night for us on Saturday, October 21.
In this stream, the developers want to explain what Seasons mean for Destiny 2, what changes from season to season, how many Seasons can be expected, and when Season 2 begins.
What is currently known about Seasons?
- The Seasons are supposed to keep the motivation of the Guardians high, to keep the “Destiny community engaged”. This was written by community manager DeeJ in a “This Week at Bungie”.
- The clan level and clan perks will be reset each season. In the new Seasons, you can unlock new perks.
- Seasonal Iron Banner milestones will be introduced.
- And: Some activities will also be reset with the start of new Seasons! This info is on the Bungie Help page regarding the resets.
For the activity resets, the Weekly Reset is actually responsible. This brings fresh tasks weekly. How the activities will be changed with the Season Reset is, therefore, an exciting question. Certain constants like the “Time Limit Modifier” in the Nightfall strike may be replaced by other modifiers. Perhaps new enemies will appear in some content. However, this can currently only be speculated.
