After the launch of Season 5, there was a noticeable increase in cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare III. Now, the Activision officials explained how it came to this.
How bad was the cheat wave? A few days ago, Season 5 started and at the same time Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III landed in the Xbox Game Pass. Over the weekend, reports surfaced that an unusually high number of cheaters were lurking in the popular online shooter.
On X, CharlieIntel reported: ‘Since the start of Season 5, there seems to be an influx of cheaters across Warzone, including in ranked play. Many of the cheaters appear to be playing via PC Game Pass (Microsoft Store version) as they show up in the lobby with an Xbox logo and are using hacks. So far, there has been no comment from Activision.’

Cheaters had an easy time for a while
Has there been a comment from Activision in the meantime? The reaction from Activision followed today, on July 30, 2024. Through the account ‘Call of Duty Updates’, the officials explained via X:
‘RICOCHET Anti-Cheat fixed an issue with a detection system over the weekend that led to an increase in cheater reports. To clarify: #TeamRICOCHET is able to identify the specific platform for all users, regardless of how they appear in-game. If you suspect that a player in your lobby is cheating, regardless of the platform, we recommend submitting an in-game report for further investigation.
We continue to be committed to combating cheaters, shutting down cheat providers, and providing our players with a fair and enjoyable gaming experience.’
