Guild Wars 2 continues! Starting today, November 29, 2017, the first episode of Season 4 of the Living Story is online. It revolves around undead, the aftermath of the finale of Path of Fire, and the fate of the cute baby dragon Aurene!
The Living Story is one of the major highlights of Guild Wars 2, alongside the lack of the item spiral and the quirky game world. Like in a TV series, the developers and writers at ArenaNet regularly present new stories from the world of Tyria. It can certainly happen that world-changing events permanently alter the game world.
Just a few weeks after the launch of the last expansion Path of Fire, the next season of the Living Story with the first episode “Daybreak” is already online.
Spoiler warning: If you haven’t completed the Path of Fire expansion yet, you should not read on.
Aurene’s Fate – From Cute to Grim?
If you know the finale of Path of Fire, you know that the renegade war god Balthazar wanted to kill the elder dragon Kralkatorrik with the help of our baby dragon prot3g3 Aurene. After all, Aurene is the daughter of the dragon Glint, who was a servant of Kralkatorrik.
But the god’s plan went awry and his essence was absorbed by Kralkatorrik and also Aurene. This led to another “dragon flight” and widespread devastation for the elder dragon. For Aurene, however, the divine energy likely initiated rapid growth.
Thus, the days of the cute little Aurene, who somehow looked like the dragon “Toothless” from the movie “How to Train Your Dragon,” are numbered. The adult Aurene is a rather grim beast, and if we are to believe colleague Rytlock from the trailer, it is not even certain whether she is still on your side or simply wants to see the world burn.
You will learn exactly what Aurene’s fate is in the first episode “Daybreak” and the further course of Season 4.
Dragon Terror, Undead, New Fractal, and New Raid
Apart from the crisis surrounding Aurene, there is also trouble in the city of Amnoon. The city was enclosed after the dragon flight of Kralkatorrik by the “Brandsturm”. In addition, your hero has mysterious visions of ancient ruins. You must find an ancient warrior order and decipher further clues. And then there are the undead from Palawa Joko, who are back with a vengeance!
Additionally, there are the following contents:
- New Legendary Focus: A mysterious relic for your heroes.
- New Fractal – Twilight Oasis: Your hero travels back in time and witnesses the events that shaped Elona.
- New Raid – Hall of Chains: A stream of murderous undead relentlessly hunts innocent followers of Grenth. With your participation in the fight, the fate of the living and the dead will be decided.
To play the new season of the story, you need access to the Path of Fire expansion (you do not need to have completed it). However, you can also bookmark the episode already without access to the expansion when you log into the game during the time before Episode 2 is released in two to three months. Otherwise, you will need to unlock the missing episode later with real money gems.
Less cool than the new season are the recently introduced RNG loot boxes with mount skins among the players of Guild Wars 2.
