With the start of Season 2 of Battle for Azeroth, there are many changes in World of Warcraft. We reveal everything you need to know to stay updated in WoW.
Today, on January 23, 2018, the time has finally come. The second season of Battle for Azeroth begins, and with it, the attack on the second raid of the current expansion of World of Warcraft.
However, there are many more new features than just a new raid, as many other game systems are being adjusted simultaneously. We will tell you what changes and why your old equipment is now worth much less.
The maximum item level increases: With the increasing rewards from many sources, the maximum item level that players can achieve when an item is titanforged also increases. The new maximum level is 425 – anyone who gets such an item is unlikely to find anything better until the next patch.
Opening dates for the Battle of Dazar’Alor: As usual, the new raid does not open in all difficulty levels on the first day. At the beginning, there are only “normal” and “heroic”. LFR wings and the mythic difficulty will be released on the following dates:
- January 23, 2019: Normal and Heroic open
- January 30, 2019: Mythic and Wing 1 (LFR) open
- February 13, 2019: Wing 2 (LFR) opens
- February 26, 2019: Wing 3 (LFR) opens
Dungeons are now harder: Aside from “normal” dungeons, the difficulty of all instances (Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+) has been increased by nearly 30%. However, these dungeons also yield better loot and quickly bring players to an item level that allows them to participate in the Battle of Dazar’Alor.
Better “Mythic+” rewards: The weekly rewards from the “Mythic+” chest will be significantly improved, but only from January 30.
From then on, the weekly chest grants much better loot. A “Mythic+2” dungeon rewards with item level 380, and those who make it to “Mythic+10” can look forward to items with item level 410.
Better world quest rewards: The equipment gained from emissary quests will be improved. It will now scale even further with the player’s item level, up to item level 385.
Moreover, these rewards will now always take your loot specialization into account. This guarantees that there will be an item that is also useful for your current specialization.
Item level of the warfront increases: The rewards from the warfront: Darkshore will also be improved. Defeating the world boss Ivus or completing the warfront for the first time will now reward a substantial item with item level 400.
Please note that this only counts from the warfront, which “restarts” after the start of Season 2. An old, ongoing warfront grants the old items.
PvP draws with stronger rewards: The item spiral continues in PvP as well, and better rewards await. Alongside the loot from Mythic Dungeons, the item levels also increase here, for example, for Conquest Points or the completion of Battlegrounds. Just like with the “Mythic+” chest, the powerful PvP rewards will only be available starting from week 2. However, you can already start collecting Conquest Points.
Better loot from Vashreen: Thaumaturge Vashreen now offers better Azerite items, however, the costs for them have also increased. Those with a large amount of Titan Residuum can purchase Azerite items with the following costs:
- A random item of item level 400: 675 Titan Residuum
- A specific item of item level 400: 1725 Titan Residuum
- A random item of item level 415: 1725 Titan Residuum
- A specific item of item level 415: 7150 Titan Residuum
More Azerite bonuses on all items: With the start of Season 2, all new Azerite items over item level 380 grant an additional ring of Azerite abilities. Instead of four rings, there are now five. This new outer ring always contains at least two options per specialization so that you should see your favorite abilities more often.
Artifact knowledge reoccurs for 10 weeks: Artifact knowledge resumes starting with Season 2. This means that your Heart of Azeroth will require less Artifact Power each week to level up – always about 30%. Artifact knowledge increases weekly (every Wednesday) and continues for a total of 10 weeks.
Are you looking forward to Season 2? Or have these 5 reasons made you consider pausing WoW?
