The game Sea of Thieves is actually released here at midnight. But some players are already playing before the release.
Many players can hardly wait for the launch of Rare’s Sea of Thieves and use tricks to play earlier. In Germany, you would have to wait for the release until midnight, but some players are already sailing the seas and solving puzzles.
Location changed and saved
For this trick, players changed the region of their Xbox One or PC to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, or South Korea: the regions where Sea of Thieves has already been released.
Since Sea of Thieves is released at different times in various regions, the Microsoft Store can be tricked. This makes the system believe that you are in the corresponding country and lets you play.
According to reports on Reddit, this works on the Xbox One and PC with pre-ordered games and also with the Game Pass.
Anyone who hasn’t tried the Game Pass yet can test it for free for 14 days. To do this, simply sign up on the official Xbox website. With the Game Pass, you have access to the full version of Sea of Thieves.
How could players play earlier?
- On the PC, players searched the Game Pass in the Microsoft Store and activated it. Then, they changed the region and language settings to the corresponding country. After restarting the PC, they had access to the Microsoft Store of that country.
- On the Xbox , players also first activated the Pass and then went to the system settings to make the changes to country and language. After a restart, they then had access to, for example, the Microsoft Store of New Zealand.
However, you should be cautious with these changes. In the Sea of Thieves forum, a guide on this topic was removed. The Rare employee pointed out that this violates Microsoft’s service agreement and thus the forum rules.
