The upcoming pirate MMO Sea of Thieves focuses on a lot of humor and pirate atmosphere.
Therefore, the developers at Rare have now released a new video about the game. However, it does not show any new gameplay scenes; instead, it features a music box. This plays the song “We Shall Sail Together” while a funny skeleton dances to the tune.
Sing along, pirates!
As befits a pirate game, a hearty shanty must not be missing. This was already partially heard in the E3 trailer. Now the song is available in full. It is sung by Anna Hon, composed by Robin Beanland, who was also responsible for the music of the Rare game Conker’s Bad Fur Day.
Sea of Thieves is not referred to by the developers as an MMORPG but as a “Shared World Adventure Game.” They want to clarify that in the game it is not about numbers and statistics, which in many real MMORPGs are important for players. They want players to focus on fun, which is why there is also no HUD. They do not want to abstract anything by navigating through many windows and menus when you want to craft something. Everything should happen directly in the game world.

Nevertheless, in Sea of Thieves, the multiplayer aspect takes center stage. You team up with other players to form a crew, sail together on a ship across the seas, search for treasures on islands, and engage in battles with other pirate crews or trade with them. The online game will be released in February 2017 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
