On Steam, you will soon be able to play the pirate MMO Sea of Thieves. The release has now been announced. And even crossplay is included in the Steam version.
What’s new? The pirate adventure “Sea of Thieves” surprisingly appeared in the Steam store. Microsoft explains that they will support crossplay between Windows 10 (Microsoft Store), Steam, and Xbox One with the game. And that as soon as SoT launches on Steam. This is also revealed by the point “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” on the shop page.
When is the release? Unfortunately, a specific release date for Sea of Thieves on Steam has not yet been set. On the store page, there is a hint that it will be “coming soon”. If you want to test the game cheaply, you can find Sea of Thieves available in the Xbox Game Pass for PC.
On Twitter, the developers write that they “currently have no date” to share. Nevertheless, they are excited to announce this step.
What can you expect from Sea of Thieves?
What kind of game is this? Sea of Thieves is one of the best pirate MMOs currently on the market. The focus is on the ships, with which you can explore the seas and plunder other pirate ships.
But even outside of sailing trips, there is much to experience. You can get drunk in bars, sing sea shanties, or find hidden treasures with the help of maps and puzzles.
You can form a crew with up to 4 players and accept quests from NPCs. But you can also set off alone and experience the vast world of Sea of Thieves.
This is what Microsoft says: In a post on the Xbox Blog, Microsoft writes that players have been exploring the secrets of Sea of Thieves for two years. They are now excited to share the game with the Steam community and to bring them into the game.
Why is this good? For players of Sea of Thieves, this should be good news, as you can experience exciting adventures together with other pirates. Multiple pirate crews are out on servers, competing for hidden treasures. If you play as nasty as this streamer, you spread fear and terror among the other crews.
Bringing even more players into the game through the Steam community, and allowing them to play together, should ensure full servers and plenty of fellow players.
How has it been for Sea of Thieves so far? A lot has changed in Sea of Thieves since its launch.
- At the beginning, players said there was still too little content
- Then the developers followed up and showed their plans for 6 updates in 2018
- Already 6 months after its release, Sea of Thieves has changed – they listened to the players’ wishes
- In January 2019, Sea of Thieves skyrocketed on Twitch – for good reasons
- A huge update in April 2019 ensured that you must check out the game
Also in 2020, Sea of Thieves continues to launch events and bring new content. Just at the end of March, the anniversary event started with special pirate quests.
Will you be getting the Steam version of Sea of Thieves?
