Fixing Sea of Thieves errors, solutions for Beard Codes
During the testing phases and after the release, several error messages have already appeared in Sea of Thieves. Instead of the usual error numbers, the developers named these with bearded names.
The solution for some errors is quite simple and resolved with a restart, while others relate to problems with Sea of Thieves and antivirus software or a firewall.
According to reports from the community, the error messages “CinnamonBeard, BronzeBeard and FishBeard” have been accumulating since release. Together with the players and developers, some errors and their solutions have been explained:
CinnamonBeard, BronzeBeard – Error code in Sea of Thieves
Initial experiences show that these errors are likely a connection problem with Sea of Thieves. One of the most successful solutions is a restart of the game.
- On Xbox One, press the Guide Button on your controller
- Select Sea of Thieves
- Press the Menu Button (to the right of the Guide Button)
- Select Quit
- Now restart Sea of Thieves and try to join a game.
GreyBeard error message
There is no official explanation for the GreyBeard error yet. Players assume it has to do with matchmaking. Unfortunately, there is still no effective solution for this.
FishBeard – Error code in Sea of Thieves
This seems to be a similar error to GreyBeard, related to group formation. Developers from Rare advise to play temporarily as a solo player when encountering this problem.
LazyBeard, AshBeard, AvocadoBeard and other issues
In addition to the common errors, there are minor issues that may be related to Xbox Live or your system:

- You have been kicked from the game due to inactivity. Just log back in.
- AshBeard error message
- You are not logged into Xbox Live. Log in there to play Sea of Thieves.
- AvocadoBeard error message
- You do not have an Xbox Live Gold subscription (anymore). Renew it to play online again.
- AlabasterBeard, AlmondBeard, CyanBeard error messages
- The connection to Xbox Live has been interrupted. Check the status in your Xbox settings.
- FluffyBeard error message
- The Sea of Thieves servers are unreachable due to maintenance. An update is likely being deployed.
- LavenderBeard error message
- This problem occurs in connection with antivirus software or firewalls. Temporarily disable these to determine which settings need to be changed for Sea of Thieves.
- KiwiBeard error message
- This error occurs when multiple gamertags are logged into the console. You need to log out other accounts so that only one is active. After that, you can play Sea of Thieves.
