The “war” between console gamers and PC gamers is well-known. Everyone believes it is the coolest to play on their own platform. This conflict should be pushed to the extreme in the upcoming pirate MMO Sea of Thieves with crossplay between PC and Xbox One without compromises.
During Gamescom, the developers from Rare studio explained that there will be MMO crossplay between PC players and Xbox One owners. There should be no restrictions. Everyone plays in the same world with the same content, which is supposed to provide a lot of variety. The more people join, the more diverse the crews will become, and the more interesting the entire game will be.

Battle PC against console!
The crossplay between PC and console was something the developers planned from the very beginning. Initially, however, the idea was to let console players compete against PC players. There was to be a real war between the two factions.
PC players should get their own sails, just like console players. This way, it would have been evident from a distance whether one was dealing with a PC player or a console player.
The war could still start someday
However, the team dismissed this idea.
Instead, they focused on good balancing to allow all players to enjoy all content of Sea of Thieves, no matter what platform they play on. However, the idea of a battle between PC and console could be revisited someday.
Then one could already see from afar: “There’s one from the other faction. I’m going to board him now!”
The pirate MMO Sea of Thieves is set to release in 2018 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
