Images of the new MMO Atlas have been published on Steam. We show you the new images and take a look at what the fans are saying.
What is Atlas? Atlas is an MMO from Studio Wildcard, the creators of Ark: Survival Evolved. The theme of the game is not dinosaurs, but pirates.
It promises to be an MMO for over 40,000 players on a server. In Atlas, you can sail through a vast game world with your crew and build fortifications on islands.
New images of the game have now been released on Steam.

The released images are titled “Captain’s Log” and are intended to provide insight into the gameplay mechanics and the features of the game.
Freeclimber
This is what you see in the image: A woman is climbing on a rock wall with an ice pick. In the background, you can see an epic mountain landscape with houses visible.
This is likely one of the many islands in the game world of Atlas. If you look closely, you’ll also spot some animals that players might encounter.
This is what players think: Some players fear it’s a copy of Ark. The Steam user “rio” writes: “The game looks like a copy of Ark. Am I the only one who sees this?”
The user “Didantic” writes: “Wow, zoom in guys! Do you see the leopard and the three other animals?” In addition to the leopard, players also spot a bear in the image. However, this is not clearly visible.
Contact Point

This is what you see in the image: The image shows a harbor and a ship. The captain of the ship is repairing his vessel while another crew member is buying fishing bait at a stand. In the background, you can see a giant skull as a waterfall.
This is what players think: The user “Wordload” writes on Steam: “I can’t wait to go fishing with my friends!” It will be interesting to see how fishing will work and whether we can eat the fish afterwards. Will we also see a social hub here?
Attack on the Inland Fortress
This is what you see in the image: In the eastern region, an attack on a fortress is taking place. A company is defending its castle wall while a cavalry unit is being supported by a mobile artillery piece.
This is what players think: “Axblade” asks: “Is that a pistol or a sword in the background?” This would be interesting, because then there would be not only swords and guns in the pirate world, but also handguns. Additionally, it is positively noted that “thank goodness you don’t have to play just a pirate, but can also be a knight.”
“Melora22” writes: “Looks like the same build principle as Ark, no round towers, no octagons. I’m still looking forward to it.”
This is what you see in the image: This shows the other side of the battle. Soldiers are defending their castle wall against attackers with rifles and cannons.
This is what players think: The user “Scavenger” asks about this image: “Will there be a Gatling gun?” referring to the weapon in the background. This weapon could be a strong weapon for defending fortresses.
Honor Code
This is what you see in the image: A fighter is reloading his revolver with gunpowder. On the other side of the bridge stands his opponent. Skill is required for reloading.
This is what players think: On Steam, “Bane-Chan” writes: “Oh yes, there are duels! But will there be communication among players, so I can insult my opponent after I shoot him? Just like pirates did centuries ago!”
This is what you see in the image: After reloading the pistol, it’s time for battle. Whoever is the fastest wins. Here, the opposing duelist is shot with two loaded pistols.
This is what players think: “TotallyUncool” writes: “I love the weapons I’ve seen so far. I can’t wait to see more!”
Through the Air
This is what you see in the image: You can see several players flying through the air with gliders. It seems that you can fly in Atlas. In the background, there is a stone-carved figure and further insights into the game world.
This is what players think: On Steam, “IsilithTehroth” writes: “Please don’t add anything for flying. It should be about naval battles and sailing.” If you could truly fly, it would be another method of movement besides sailing.
Alongside many negative opinions about flying, “Qc_Ragnarok1985″ adds: “It doesn’t look like flying to me, but like gliding. So it’s not too overpowered. I like it!”
What do you think of the images? Are you excited for Atlas?
The creators of Atlas have delayed the release of the game. Here you can read the background to this.
