The mid-season update of Season 2 of Call of Duty: Warzone has changed quite a bit regarding the weapons. However, while the nerfs to the meta weapons were completely understandable, there was a “change” that few people are likely to understand: Some sights of the best snipers are now so broken that they no longer have scope reflection.
What’s going on? Call of Duty: Warzone has done it again. A mechanic that has worked almost seamlessly since the release of Warzone has been destroyed by the mid-season update of Season 2 – the scope reflection of the powerful sniper rifles from Modern Warfare.
It has been known for some time that there are sniper scopes without the so-called “glint”. Some of the scopes from the sniper weapons in Cold War are bugged. Until now, this was only a minor issue because the sniper rifles from CoD MW are still considered by many players to be stronger than the “Cold War” snipers.
Apparently, the weapons from CoD MW have now caught the bug. Snipers like the Kar98k or the HDR are among the most popular and strongest weapons in Warzone – without scope reflection, sniper players have a significant advantage. Scope reflection of the strongest Warzone snipers is gone
Why is the missing “glint” a problem? If a sniper player takes aim at you from a great distance, he can take you out with a headshot. Normally, in this scenario, you would have little chance of spotting the enemy before the first shot.
To mitigate this distance advantage, Call of Duty has the sniper glint. If you look in the direction of a sniper peeking through his sight, the long-range shooter is clearly visible to you through the light reflection of his scope.
In Warzone, the reflection usually starts at scopes with 4x magnification. However, the “Cold War” weapons have already bypassed this rule. They even offer 6x magnification and other zoom levels without reflection.
Now, this also applies to some scopes of the sniper weapons from CoD MW. This makes it really difficult to spot and counter the attacking snipers. Which scopes give the “advantage”? The Warzone expert and CoD YouTuber “JGOD” has tested many scopes and found that the issue does not occur with all scopes of the Kar98k and HDR. Will it stay like this? The developers are working on it. The CoD creators maintain a Trello board where they log issues they are working on. The glint issue is already on the board and has the status “under investigation” (via trello.com). However, there is no timeline. Since it is not exactly a trivial matter, the developers are likely to bring a fix for the problem relatively soon.
Mid-Season 2 has patched quite a bit
In fact, the broken sniper scopes are not the only thing that was affected by the mid-season patch:
Attack Helicopters: For a few hours, the attack helicopters were back and brought an invisibility glitch into the game. The helis with miniguns were quickly replaced by the normal variant.
Broken Reload Perk: Almost all weapons from CoD MW have the attachment “Dexterity”. Normally, this perk provides faster reloading, but currently, the attachment is completely useless.
Broken Debuff Perk: The weapon perk “Fragile – Wounded” of the “Modern Warfare” weapons is also broken. Normally, the health regeneration of hit enemies should start later – that is currently not working.
Contrary Barrels of the FiNN LMG: The machine gun offers some interesting options for the barrel attachment that greatly increase your fire rate. Not so in mid-season 2 – the “contrary” barrels are all broken and offer the normal fire rate of the FiNN.
Often, little bugs disappear as unnoticed as they appeared in the game. But when such an important mechanic as the sniper reflection is no longer functioning correctly, it causes chaos in the entire Warzone. Hopefully, the glint will quickly return to the powerful sniper weapons.
