In Red Dead Redemption 2, you won’t get far without enough cash. We have compiled some methods on how to quickly make money in the Wild West.
In RDR 2, even as an outlaw, you need enough money to get by in the Wild West. Whether you need train tickets, want to buy or craft new outfits, or need a few new firearms: you won’t get far without cash.
We suggest several ways for you to quickly gather enough money in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Looting is the way to wealth
In Red Dead Redemption 2, you should have your fingers in everything. Many places have items you can either use yourself or sell.
You shouldn’t overlook defeated enemies either: some of them have a little money or tinctures with them. Every little bit counts!

Play the campaign
This tip sounds like a no-brainer, but especially at the beginning of the game, it’s a good idea to simply follow the storyline of RDR 2.
While you earn less money in some missions, Dutch van der Linde’s gang is always devising new plans to get cash. Moreover, you usually get good weapons in missions without spending a dime.
It is also worthwhile to be a good cowboy during the campaign: if you master the story without a bounty being placed on you, it should pay off financially. If you also help others, they may return the favor.
The prices in stores are also lower if you have a good reputation. Horses acquired legally will also net you more money when sold.

Collect gold bars and sell them
Gold bars are hidden on the map of Red Dead Redemption 2. You also get some for completing puzzles.
One gold bar is worth $500. Collecting a few means you can buy fancy weapons or loyal horses. We have put together a guide with locations of gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Sell horses
To make real money with horses, you usually need to invest some cash upfront to be rewarded later. The best and most valuable horses can be found in stables in Saint Denis and Blackwater. You can purchase the animals there and resell them for a profit.
However, even tamed animals can earn you a little money. If you’re not too concerned about morality, there’s nothing wrong with stealing horses or turning the animals of defeated foes into cash.
Rob trains and carriages
Having a good reputation may earn you bonus points in towns, but morally ambiguous cowboys have more opportunities to quickly make some cash.
You can rob trains and carriages at will; no specific mission is required. Just ride alongside the trains and carriages and jump on.

Sell carriages
If you’ve already robbed a carriage, there’s really nothing wrong with taking it. The fence will gladly take the vehicle off your hands.
However, make sure to check carriages for valuables beforehand. They often contain jewelry that you can sell or use to upgrade your camp.
The fence is your best friend
The fence will not only take unwanted carriages off your hands. If you “accidentally” come across items that belong to others, the fence will give you a good price for the items.

Honest businesses usually want nothing to do with stolen goods. You should be able to find a fence in every major settlement. Jewelry and pocket watches will be particularly profitable here.
Rob everyone
If you have taken to the outlaw life and don’t want to limit yourself to trains and carriages, you can simply rob every NPC unfortunate enough to cross your path.
Robbing individuals may not always be lucrative, and depending on the character, some people may fight back or even turn the tables, but you can also simply rob businesses and loot their cash registers.

Hunt and sell animal parts
If you feel like doing something more legal for a change, you can face nature and fish or hunt animals. You can bring whole carcasses or just the pelts to the trapper, who will reward you based on the quality of the pelts.
Here’s how to get perfect pelts, you can read here.

Collect bounties
Besides animals, you can hunt something else: fugitive bandits. In the sheriff’s offices in towns, you can look at wanted posters, which contain a vague description of the wanted person and the bounty amount.
But be careful when hunting: not all bounties are marked as “dead or alive”. The more honor you accumulate, the better Arthur will be paid.

Gambling
What would the Wild West be without a bit of gambling? In your camp, you’ll always find a few willing souls from whom you can take a coin or two.
You can also try your luck in saloons. In numerous card games, like blackjack or poker, you can attempt to make a big profit.
