This is what happened on Schalke in the Summer Split 2020: The season began for the LoL team of Schalke once again quite poorly. Of the 9 games in the first half, they lost the first 8.
With 0-8 games, they were trailing in 10th and last place in the European professional league LEC and faced ridicule. It was said that everyone could compete for the playoffs this year – except Schalke.
At the end of the first half, Schalke, however, convincingly defeated the star-studded team of Fnatic – that was a sign of life. Although they lost the first two games of the second half again and dropped to a disastrous 1-10, Schalke seemingly can no longer lose since then.
Schalke has now taken down four professional teams in LoL in a row. One after the other, the Royal Blues defeated the current champions of G2 Esports, Misfits Gaming, Excel Esports, and most recently Origen.

How does Schalke win? The team has regained its self-confidence. Schalke lacked this early in the season after the losing streak, as the coach admitted.

Against the players from Origen, the German jungler, Erberk “Gilius” Demir stepped up. The 23-year-old lived up to his nickname “godGilius”.
Gilius dominated with Lee Sin and gave his team the crucial push. He was central to practically all of Schalke’s activities.
The key scene came at 30 minutes into the match. Origen had taken down 2 players from Schalke and wanted to take the Baron, which was supposed to be a sure thing. But Gilius spoiled their plans, stealing the Baron and even taking out Origen’s Blitzcrank.
After that, it was just a formality for Schalke to finish the match and keep the dream alive.

Update 9.8.: The miraculous run of Schalke continued this weekend as well. Schalke was able to defeat Fnatic and Vitality Gaming, who were the two direct competitors for the last remaining playoff spots.

Schalke is now at 7-10 in 7th place and is close to reaching a playoff spot. However, they are running out of games to play.
Whether it truly was a miraculous run or just almost one will be decided tonight when the 18th and final match of the season is played before heading into the playoffs.
At 6 PM tonight, Schalke 04 will face the MAD Lions, the number one team in European LoL right now.
Update 6:52 PM: Schalke actually defeated MAD Lions. Now either Fnatic or Excel Esports must lose their final and decisive game, and Schalke 04 will be in the playoffs. They are truly on a roll.
Update 10:55 PM: Schalke has actually managed to qualify for the LEC playoffs in summer 2020. Excel Esports lost their game against G2 and are now out. Fnatic and Schalke 04 have made it to the finals.
