The Schalke team failed in League of Legends 2020. They will not reach the playoffs of the LEC. And there is a clear culprit: the star of the LoL team, FORG1VEN. He was said to be stubborn and unyielding, says top laner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu now. With him, Schalke was a “dysfunctional team”.
This is how Schalke performed in 2020 in the LEC: In the Spring Split of the LEC, the European LoL league, 10 teams play a total of 18 matches against each other to determine the 6 best teams.
Schalke lost the first 6 matches in the LEC.
Then in February 2020, there was a major break, and they placed the star of the team, the 27-year-old ADC FORG1VEN, on the bench. He then harshly criticized Schalke, claiming that the team did not want to win, and said he would no longer play for Schalke.
In the next 10 matches, Schalke played evenly with the substitute ADC, finishing 5-5. A particular highlight was the victory against the champion G2 Esports.
Nevertheless, after 16 matches played, it is no longer enough for a playoff spot. No matter how the two remaining matches turn out, the season is over for Schalke. They will not reach the playoffs. They stand at 5-11: This is no longer enough for 6th place mathematically.
FORG1VEN stubborn and unyielding
This is what the top laner says now: In an interview with Inven, the top laner of Schalke, Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu (25), clearly explains how he sees the situation.
According to Odoamne, the season for Schalke can be divided into 2 phases:
- Phase 1 with FORG1VEN – nothing worked, it went terribly wrong. The team did not fit together. FORG1VEN was not willing to put in the extra work to adapt his playstyle and get the team running. He was stubborn and said it was the fault of others that the team was not working, not his.
- Phase 2 with Innaxe. Here, things started to work better from the beginning. He was willing to work to solve the team’s problems.
Regarding the phase with Innaxe, Odoamne says: Things improved now. Although they continued to lose, at least they worked together and were no longer a “dysfunctional” team, where players always blamed each other when they lost.
What’s behind this: These are now harsh words against FORG1VEN. The 27-year-old Greek came to Schalke after a long break due to his military service and returned to League of Legends.
He was actually intended to be the beacon of light to save Schalke, but apparently there were significant internal problems that are now coming to light.
