The Team Solo Mid blows up their setup in the League of Legends once again. TSM is reportedly replacing the top laner Broken Blade with Huni, a Korean veteran. This time, the German LoL team Schalke 04 will likely benefit from this. Broken Blade is supposed to join them, one of the biggest talents in German LoL.
What’s going on in LoL? The “trading season” has begun in LoL. Teams have been able to announce official transfers since yesterday. And there are transfers happening left and right, and the rumor mill is overflowing.
The most headlines are made by the reported transfer of EU star Perkz to Cloud 9 in the USA. But there is a lot happening besides that.
The transfers we present here are not official yet, but they are almost certain. The teams are already hinting at the transfers and making jokes about it. Insider Jacob Wolf, who reports on transfers in a barrage, is proud to have never been wrong in 5 years when announcing such transfers in advance.
The Team Solo Mid is looking for a new king
This is the situation at TSM: A team that is under tremendous pressure for the LoL year 2021 is “Team Solo Mid,” the most glorious team in North America. This is also the team with the biggest wallet, as is assumed:
- For 3 years, TSM has been completely blowing up its team in the offseason and restructuring. TSM has been trying for years to connect with the “golden era” of 2016/2017, when TSM became champions in the US league LCS three times in a row.
- Last year, TSM had a strong team together again, which won the LCS, but totally sank at the Worlds and embarrassed itself with a historic negative record.
- After that, mid lane star Bjergsen announced his retirement. Bjergsen was not only considered the franchise player of TSM but also as “The King” and the most important figure in the team for years.
- Now TSM is forced to change the lineup again and is switching not only the mid lane but also the top lane – once again, everything is revamped before a new year.
TSM allegedly acquires Huni, gives up Broken Blade
These are the changes at TSM:
It’s relatively clear how TSM will replace Bjergsen: One of the best German LoL players, Power of Evil, is supposed to join TSM and take over the mid lane. This has been known for some time, although it is not yet official.
New, however, is that TSM has signed the Korean Huni for the top lane. Huni (22) had his best time in 2016/2017 when he played for SKT1 in South Korea. However, he later moved to the West. There, he reportedly has been paid handsomely. It was said that Dignitas offered him a record sum: Huni is said to have earned more than one million US dollars a year.
What does this mean for Schalke? If Team Solo Mid has a new top laner, the old top laner is free.
The German-Turkish Broken Blade (20) is supposed to join Schalke 04 now. There he will replace Odoamne (25), who will move to Rogue.
At Schalke, they are already looking forward to the new top laner and are talking about how “broken” the top lane will be.
In fact, Broken Blade is considered a highly talented player – there is a good reason why TSM saw its future in him.
Schalke keeps its strongest player from 2020, gets 2 new ones
What will Schalke’s team look like? Allegedly, another player from the USA is supposed to join Schalke: The support player Limit (22) is expected to move from SK Gaming to Schalke (via dotesports).
Schalke has already extended contracts with mid laner Abbedagge and the star of the team, jungler Gilius.
Top laner Odoamne (25) has announced his transfer to Rogue.
If Broken Blade really comes, maybe the ADC spot would be free. Here, there was a back and forth between two rookie players in 2020.
Is this good for Schalke? Broken Blade is considered a player on the rise with a lot of potential. Huni is considered more of a player whose best time is behind him, even though he is only 22.
In general, players who move from Asia or Europe to the USA are viewed critically, as the region is considered weak.
At TSM, much recently revolved around the top lane and Broken Blade – however, that hasn’t worked out, at least not on an international level.
Apparently, they are now planning a “new beginning” with different people and also a change in style. This will likely please the bot laner Doublelift.
During the Worlds 2020, “Team Solo Mid” reportedly fell apart because they were hopeless even in practice games. This had a disastrous effect on TSM’s morale, Doublelift said in his Twitch streams.
It could be that TSM is seeking a radical fresh start and wants to change more than just the mid lane.
The big beneficiary here is Schalke, who will get one of the possibly best German players.
Schalke had really turned things around after an extremely poor start in 2020. With Broken Blade, they could further strengthen a well-functioning team and possibly play a strong role in the EU league LEC in 2021.
With Broken Blade, they now have a star after the disastrous failure with FORG1VEN.
The major upswing at Schalke 04 was largely due to Erberk “Gilius” Demir (23). The jungler powered up, and with him, Schalke became one of the best teams in European LoL. Together with Broken Blade, a powerful team could emerge in Germany:
Schalke wins 7 games in a row in LoL, truly performing the miracle
