With Scavengers, we have a survival shooter where coop and PvP intersect.
The online shooter was officially presented for the first time during the Game Awards 2018. The game is aimed at all who enjoy survival games and are not afraid of PvP.
Survival meets PvP and Coop
What is Scavengers? In Scavengers, you crash land on Earth, which is in a kind of new Ice Age. Your task is to survive. To do this, you team up with other players to act cooperatively, but you should never fully trust each other.

- Each game session is intended to last a maximum of 45 minutes and takes place in a procedurally generated area

What’s a typical game session like in Scavengers? During the adventure, you have to make tactical decisions. For example, you and your group of four players run through the procedurally generated winter landscape, closely followed by a bear that wants to have the group for lunch.
The team discovers a camp of other players and lures the bear there, which now feasts on these victims. However, you could have helped the other players. But then your reward in the form of shards might not have been as generous.
A bit of survival, a bit of Halo
How much survival is in Scavengers? In Scavengers, you are constantly on the lookout for food and better equipment. Not only do enemies like the parasitic aliens Scourge or the Outlander bandits make your life difficult, but the weather also plays an important role. Searching for food in a snowstorm can become extremely dangerous.
The survival elements should work in a similar way to Fallout 76, but without being too intrusive and complex, instead integrating into the game in a natural way.
That’s why there’s a bit of Halo in the game: Scavengers is being developed by the team behind the Warzone mode of Halo 5. And the survival game even somewhat resembles this mode. It’s important that you focus on your objectives and try to achieve them in the game world. How you interact with other players you encounter is up to you.
Whether PvP or PvE, you play how you want
You decide whether to play in coop or PvP: In Scavengers, each class has unique abilities and special weapons. Whether you use these cooperatively in the team or compete against other players in PvP, it’s up to you. You can even backstab your teammates to get more shards to buy better equipment.
That’s why Scavengers offers a lively world: The developers plan to continuously expand the game. There will also be regular events, such as when the Scourge starts an invasion and you face wave after wave of aliens, which then earns you shards as a reward. Additionally, the “wonder technology” SpatialOS is used, which provides large game areas.
When will the game be released? Currently, no release date is known. It is also not clear for which platforms the online shooter will be released. However, you can register for testing sessions on the official website, which will start in 2019.
