In Las Vegas, the CES begins on January 5th. Ahead of the trade fair, Samsung has now introduced a curious invention. An AI oven that not only offers a variety of smart features but also allows you to stream pictures of your food directly to Twitch.
What kind of oven is this? The “Samsung Bespoke AI Oven” is a new “smart” oven designed to impress consumers with promising features. It comes equipped with lots of smart technology that allows the oven to prepare your food without any involvement from you.
The oven utilizes an integrated camera. The images are analyzed, and the oven recognizes what you want to prepare. A software determines temperature, cooking time, convection, bottom and top heat, etc.
Interestingly, Samsung has also found another use for the integrated camera. It can be used to share a livestream from the oven directly to Twitch or other social media channels.
What is the CES? The Consumer Electronics Show is one of the largest trade shows for consumer electronics, attended by experts, industry insiders, and journalists. It has been held annually in January in Las Vegas since 1998. Therefore, the CES is an important barometer that shows how the industry might develop in the coming months and years.
In addition to computers and consumer electronics, many household appliances are also showcased, and in recent years, smart home devices have played a particularly significant role. An oven with artificial intelligence and cameras is not so far-fetched.
Among the innovations that have been presented at the fair in the past are the video recorder (VCR), the games PONG and Tetris, the Commodore 64, the DVD, and the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Last year, Samsung gained attention at the CES with a brilliant gaming monitor.
Perhaps future viral clips from Twitch will soon come from the oven. But here is one that was created in the classic way.
Cooking streams with a curious trade fair gadget
Why is Samsung making an oven that can stream? Although Samsung aims to specifically target influencers in its promotional materials, the oven is not a product solely directed at streamers. It is much more likely that the marketing team came up with the idea of using the camera built into the oven for streaming only later.
Technically, however, Samsung offers a brilliant solution for Twitch chefs. They can easily add another perspective to their streams, providing real value.
Therefore, the product could become particularly popular among streamers. The “Just Chatting” category on Twitch has been booming for years. Many viewers enjoy cooking streams, and there are some streamers who only broadcast from their kitchens. WoW and Twitch veteran Asmongold sees it similarly, believing that the future of Twitch consists of cooking shows and reality.
So it is not too surprising that Samsung believes it can fill a market gap with its new oven.
Do you need something like this? Frozen pizza or fries in, lid down, and a few minutes later it’s served. This is the dream Samsung wants to make a reality with the new “Bespoke AI Oven”. Admittedly, this is more of a luxury problem.
Therefore, Samsung also wants to convince skeptics that the oven is able to recognize if your food is burning. Perfect for those who want to quickly make something to eat between two gaming sessions.
Despite all the great features, it is unlikely that the AI oven will soon be found in every household. This is probably also due to the price, which is still unknown. However, it will probably not be cheap.
