What kind of device is this? The new monitor from Samsung is a 55-inch monitor that features 4K UHD. Samsung also uses Quantum Mini-LEDs for the display. Additionally, the display is curved, with a 1000R curvature. This strong curvature is said to be closest to the human eye according to Samsung.
The curvature in monitors is supposed to be better for the eye and also allows for a stronger “immersion” in the game.
What is special, however, is that you can rotate the monitor 90 degrees. Samsung refers to this as “Cockpit Mode.” This makes the monitor appear even larger and bulkier in front of you on the desk. During the presentation, some users referred to it as a spaceship.
In addition, there is a remote control that allows you to change the arrangement of windows on the display or the screen resolution. With such a large monitor, you no longer have to worry about whether you should buy a second monitor for your setup.
What did gamers fear? Already during the presentation of the monitor, many users suspected that the new monitor from Samsung would not be cheap. At that time, someone explained that they would buy the monitor immediately if the price did not exceed 2000 US dollars.
However, with a price of 3,500 euros, the price is well above their pain threshold, and many other users are likely to feel similarly.
You need strong hardware if you want to use such a monitor
If you really want to game on such a monitor and not just do office tasks, then you need sufficiently powerful hardware. You should at least have a GeForce RTX 3080 or an RTX 3090 if you want to take advantage of the 4K resolution.
