Jared Padalecki, the actor playing Sam Winchester in the well-known series Supernatural, would be ready to shoot a sequel immediately. At the same time, he also mentions an important factor that makes the realization difficult.
After 15 seasons, the series Supernatural was canceled in 2020. Although there was a spin-off in 2022 with The Winchesters, the story surrounding the two protagonists Sam and Dean Winchester was actually concluded.
But there is hope for the fans: After both main actors announced at a convention in November 2023 that they were having discussions on the topic, Jared Padalecki once again expressed enthusiasm for a sequel – but also mentioned an obstacle.

Time is the Problem
In an interview about the upcoming season Walker, the current series starring Jared Padalecki, the actor spoke with Collider about a possible Supernatural sequel.
Padalecki stated that he would jump at the chance, but that there is also a hurdle in the realization, namely the availability of the main actors:
“It’s not that I haven’t seriously considered doing it, my only answer is yes. It’s the timing. It’s the availability.”
He further explained how much heart goes into the series. Therefore, they want to avoid sacrificing quality under time pressure:
Jensen and I are so drawn to our show that we made together for 15 years that we don’t just want to do it for the sake of doing it. We don’t want to say: “Hey, I have two weeks off in June. Let’s get started and shoot 10 pages a day just to have more content.”
If and when Supernatural comes back, it will be a labor of love, and we will invest every hour to ensure it stays as true as possible to the canon, the fandom, the story, and the characters.
So my short answer is: it’s not a consideration, the answer is yes. I just don’t know when I will be available. I don’t know when he will be available. But again, my answer is yes.

For Jared Padalecki, it doesn’t matter in what form the story of the two Winchester brothers is realized, as long as both main actors can be satisfied with the result and the story is good:
