Sakamoto Days is one of the anime hits from 2025. Unfortunately, the first part of season 1 did not fully convince fans. However, with cours 2, the fans’ criticisms are being taken seriously.
What kind of anime is this? Taro Sakamoto was once a gifted hitman. He was at the top of the underground world and was feared by many. However, at some point he met his future wife, fell in love with her, and left his previous life behind. Now he works as a supermarket salesman.
Unfortunately, Sakamoto cannot leave his past behind. Many of his former rivals are after him and show up to eliminate him. Since Sakamoto cannot kill his enemies due to a promise to his wife, he must come up with creative solutions to protect his family and the supermarket.
What was the problem? Sakamoto Days was one of the most promising animes of the new season in spring 2025 . However, cours 1 did not fully convince the viewers. The reason for this is the animation, which many fans perceive as poor. Reasons speculated on Reddit include time constraints and the collaboration of far too many animation studios.
While there are viewers on Reddit who can find something enjoyable in the animations, they face a lot of backlash.
Now the production team from TMS Entertainment has released a new trailer for cours 2, the 2nd part of season 1. Here, the reactions have suddenly become much more positive.
“Sakamoto Days is just starting now”
What does the trailer show? The trailer reveals the further storyline of Sakamoto Days and its new characters, including Rion and Akira Akao. Rion is an old friend of protagonist Taro Sakamoto and also a hitwoman. Her niece Akira wants to follow in her assassin aunt’s footsteps.
Additionally, there are some fight sequences featuring the hitmen in action. The protagonist Taro also makes another appearance.
What do fans say about it? In the comments under the YouTube video, many people express that they are excited about the shown snippet. The top commenter writes that the animations have improved significantly. Others support him:

- Morimori-d6v is also thrilled: “Just watching the promo video gets me all excited.”

However, there are again some anime fans on Reddit who cannot find anything enjoyable in the new trailer. One user ironically writes that he misses the still frames and poor effects. According to one user, this is because more still frames were simply included in this trailer than in the previous one.
