The survival game Rust was released in 2013 for PC and has been highly popular since then. In July 2019, the game set a new personal record. Now it is also set to be released for consoles PS4 and Xbox One.
What is Rust? Rust is a classic survival game where you start naked and armed only with a stone. The goal is to survive in a dangerous world. You will encounter wild animals, radioactivity, and other players who want to harm you.
To survive, you need to eat and drink, can build a shelter, and equip yourself with new tools.
Rust has developed well over the years. The game now also offers power generation through wind and solar energy. This can be used for lights, doors, but also for automatic traps and defense systems.
When will Rust be released for consoles? Until now, you could only play Rust on PC. This is set to change, as the developer Facepunch Studios has announced.
A release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is planned for 2020. No further information on the scope and whether there will be crossplay is available yet.

How successful is Rust? Rust has been in the top 10 on Steam for about a year now. This was also due to the balloon update at the end of 2018, which was very well received by players.
In July 2019, the survival game set a new record. On average, 62,260 players played Rust, with a peak of 93,595 at the same time. One reason for this may have been the mounts that were introduced in June.
As a result, Rust also made it to the 1st place of the most successful MMOs on Steam in August 2019. Currently, this position, however, belongs to the shooter Destiny 2, which was released on Steam in October.
Rust has an extremely good rating on Steam. Out of 172,000 reviews, more than 80% are positive. The game left early access in February 2018 and currently costs €29.99 on the platform.
