With the new patch, the survival game Rust is getting a drone feature. Your clans will soon be able to make deliveries.
What it’s about: As Rust producer Alistair McFarlane announced on Twitter, delivery drones will be introduced with the next patch. With them, you can send equipment from certain terminals to your safe zones. This should make it easier for new players to access important equipment and may even provide the option to establish your own trading empire.
When is the patch coming? The latest update for Rust is set to be released on February 4th. Then players will be able to use the drones in the survival game to deliver equipment.

How the new feature works: Drones are not directly controllable, they are more like NPCs. You can launch them from certain terminals that are only available in safe zones. When you activate a terminal, you see all the shops on the map. These “Vendor Machines” can belong to NPCs like scientists or bandits, or other players.
If you select a shop, you can send drones there. The diligent helpers purchase the desired goods, such as weapons, there and deliver them to you “at home”. Each time it costs a small fee. In the current test phase, this fee is scrap, but that may change.
Drones cannot be destroyed and they can only approach marketplaces if they are truly “safe,” meaning they are not currently being dismantled by other players. By the way, you cannot sit on the drones or block them when they approach a shop.
Rust has been experiencing a second spring for several months and is very popular among players and popular streamers. In December 2020, 50 top streamers propelled the game into the top ranks of Twitch.
Thanks to the new attention and the big hype, the survival game gained significant momentum in recent months. Rust was released back in 2013, so it has been around for quite some time. The mix of DayZ and Minecraft is once again very popular.
