Probably hardly anyone expected this, but Gameforge and developer Runewaker are actually working on a new chapter in the story of the MMORPG Runes of Magic.
It has been very quiet around Runes of Magic for a long time, but it is now certain that a new expansion will be released next year. Not much is known about it yet, except that Gameforge was on-site with the developers to discuss the future of the MMORPG. It turned out that they want to develop another chapter. Gameforge plans to reveal more about it in due time. However, they aim to release the addon in the first half of 2016. The last chapter, “Chapter V: Fires of Shadowforge,” was released on June 12, 2012 – that was more than 3 years ago. Fans had almost given up hope for an expansion.
Runes of Magic will make a comeback
Until then, fans of Runes of Magic won’t have to wait for new content, as Runewaker is currently working on completing the siege war feature. This has been in beta status for a long time, but now the final version is being tackled. Currently, some bugs still need to be fixed. When it will be ready for you to participate in the sieges is not yet known.
However, it is clear that this year the Runes of Magic shop will be replaced by the new Gameforge shop. According to the publisher, this allows for offering new content in the shop more dynamically and effectively. Additionally, the release of the Mirror World is planned for the end of the year. This is a high-level area full of mini-dungeons, where many rewards await the players.
It seems that the MMORPG Runes of Magic is going to experience a kind of renaissance. Perhaps Gameforge and Runewaker hope that the new chapter will create a similar effect to that of expansions for World of Warcraft – namely, that many former players will want to return and experience the new content. Whether that will be the case will be revealed next year when the expansion is released.
