The actors of Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro from the Netflix series about One Piece had to create a ranking. It was about who is the best anime hero of all time. And Luffy only ranks 5th.
What does the ranking look like? On the TikTok channel of flighthouse, the actors Iñaki Godoy, Taz Skylar, and Mackenyu were invited to create a ranking of the best anime characters. The following anime characters made it into the top 5:
- Son-Goku (Dragon Ball)
- Ash Ketchum (Pokémon)
- Sailor Moon
- Naruto
- Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
Although the actors appear in the live-action adaptation of One Piece and even play Luffy, they placed this character at the bottom of the list. You can watch the video here:
They placed Son-Goku in the first position out of respect. The manga of Dragon Ball has inspired many other Shonen stories, including One Piece, and was the pioneer of the genre. Close behind is Ash Ketchum from Pokémon. Pokémon is not only an important anime but also a significant video game franchise.
Sailor Moon is as iconic as Goku and Naruto and actually deserved to be in the top 3. Thus, only the 5th place remains for Luffy.
Ranking was not created quite fairly
How was the ranking created? The ranking is a blind ranking. A ranking is created without the individuals knowing in advance which characters, foods, or other items they need to rank.
So, it may be that objects that are ranked last would have ended up in a completely different place if the person had known beforehand what they needed to rank.
And you can also see this in the 3 actors. They are visibly disappointed that Luffy is mentioned last and is left with only the fifth place. Taz Skylar charmingly says that Luffy will always be number 1 in his heart and thus the actor.
The actors are themselves big fans of One Piece and give their all for their role in the Netflix series. One of them even learned to cook to be just like his idol: Actor from One Piece shows his cooking skills, fans amazed: “He has truly become Real-Life Sanji”
