Are you looking for a cooperative game for the weekend or simply a traditional RPG? Then you should check out Solasta: Crown of the Magister. The multiplayer beta is currently being tested on Steam.
What kind of game is this? Solasta: Crown of the Magister was released in May 2021 as a pure single-player title. The traditional RPG is based on the world-renowned role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
You can create your own character or choose from pre-made characters with different classes to experience adventures together with your group. In the review by the colleagues at GameStar, Solasta received a score of 80 points.
On Steam, Solasta has a rating of “very positive” with 89% positive reviews since release. However, fans have been waiting for some time for the opportunity to play with friends. Now it’s here – but for a limited time only.
Solasta: An old-school RPG for all role-playing veterans
What makes Solasta special? Solasta is a traditional RPG like Dungeons & Dragons, on which it is based. You create a character from scratch with:
- Race and Class
- Background story and personal virtues
- moral alignment
- social and physical skills
- attribute values
- spells, deities, or combat styles depending on the class
This gives you a significant influence over how your character looks and behaves – or how NPCs interact with you.
Combat is played in turn-based strategy. You move and cast spells or attack in an “initiative” that determines the order before the combat begins.
Who should check out the game? All fans of tabletop or video game adaptations like Baldur’s Gate, The Dark Eye, or Shadowrun will also enjoy Solasta. The biggest difference is that you rely more on “own” characters and experience less personal story for each character.
Even if you usually sit at the table with friends but can’t do that right now, it’s worth a look. Solasta is a kind of virtual simulation of Dungeons & Dragons. However, those who cannot relate to these gameplay principles will not be happy with Solasta.
Testing Solasta in cooperative mode – Here’s how
When does the coop test run? From Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 3:51 PM to Monday, March 21, 2022 at 3:00 AM German time, the coop beta of Solasta runs. During this time, you can test how the game feels in multiplayer.
How do I participate? Anyone who owns Solasta or buys it can participate in the test. The game currently costs €39.99 on Steam. After purchasing, you simply need to enable the beta in the game settings:
