A modder transforms Warcraft 3: Reforged into a third-person RPG. Players celebrate the videos and compare it to WoW.
What kind of map is this? Despite the mixed feelings about Blizzard’s Warcraft 3: Reforged, some players enjoy it. At least they express great interest in the comments under the videos by modder Serj Vasylyshyn. In his videos, he demonstrates how he plays WC3: Reforged in third-person view.
This creates a homey WoW feeling. Through the view and the map change, it feels as if one is wandering around in World of Warcraft.
As PCGamer reports, such RPG maps and third-person mods that Vasylyshyn uses are nothing new for Warcraft 3. Nevertheless, it is exciting to see them in the current Reforged.
What does it look like? In the first video, you see the character walking through a small village. Along a river, he soon encounters a fire golem that comes to life before the player.
The played character can attack with his sword and also uses a fire spell in combat.
The second video is just under 5 minutes long. Vasylyshyn writes that someone wanted to see how this modification of the game looks in enclosed spaces. He fights there in a fortress against skeleton warriors and makes his way piece by piece to a large portal.
With his allies, he enters the portal and ends up in an apparently unfinished spot on the map.
Is the mod already finished? He calls his project “Engless Tale: Dragon Hunter” (presumably Endless Tale is meant) – it is supposed to be an RPG map for single-player. Everything seen in the videos is still a work-in-progress and could still change significantly.
What do the players say about it? In the comments on the embedded YouTube videos, this project receives a lot of praise. One of the most upvoted comments reads “Okay, this is epic.” Others say:
- “WTF this looks great”
- “Keep it up, buddy, it looks awesome”
- “Cloak, armor, and shield look better than in the current WoW”
- “This is actually leaked gameplay from one of the new dungeons in WoW Shadowlands”
Even in the beta of WC3: Reforged, the game was compared to WoW – who won the beauty contest?
Others also remind that Blizzard secures the rights for mods created by users. They might not even mention him as the author there. But Vasylyshyn writes that this doesn’t change anything for him. He enjoys the process of creating. “Maybe someone will have fun playing it later. No matter who is credited as the author.”
How do you like the project? Would you try the map?
Meanwhile, Blizzard releases refunds for WC3: Reforged – players want their money back.
