Both GTA 5 Online and Red Dead Online will be unavailable this evening as usual. The reason for this is not due to server maintenance or anything similar.
When will the servers close? As Rockstar announced, GTA Online and Red Dead Online will go offline today, June 4, between 02:00 and 04:00 p.m. ET. This corresponds to the time from 20:00 to 22:00 in Germany.
If you have a longer session planned in either game for this evening, you should look for an alternative program.
Rockstar calls for support
The reason for the server closure: Via Twitter, Rockstar Games called for support and announced that they would like to close the servers for two hours in memory of George Floyd and urged for support. During this time, a memorial for George Floyd will take place in Minneapolis, where there have recently been large demonstrations and protests.
Following the memorial, we hope you will join us in further honoring the many victims of America’s racial injustices by supporting their families, black-owned businesses, those marching on the streets, and coalitions through the organizations listed here: https://t.co/yIQu2R1pJb

Just like Rockstar, several game developers recently expressed their condolences and took various actions. For example, the Pokémon GO developers Niantic announced extensive donations. Call of Duty intends to take stronger action against racist usernames after recent significant allegations.
