So far, there is only little information about the highly anticipated GTA 6. A former developer from Rockstar believes he knows why the studio is being so tight-lipped about the development.
What is the status of GTA 6? It will be a while before we can enter the presumably vast world of GTA 6. As it stands now, the game will be released in the fall of 2025.
The first trailer caused a stir and significantly boosted the hype. It already showcased the game world and the two protagonists, a gangster couple that will unsettle the fictional state of Leonida.
Aside from that, there have been leaks that have brought parts of the game to the public. Rockstar itself, however, remains silent and reveals little about their upcoming blockbuster. A former employee understands why the studio is behaving this way.
“It’s better if they stay silent”
Which employee is being referred to? Obbe Vermeij is a former employee of Rockstar Games. According to GTA Fandom, he worked as a Technical Director for the studio from 1995 to 2009 and contributed to GTA Vice City, San Andreas, and also part 4.
He knows the inner workings of the company and explains why he can understand Rockstar’s silence:
I can fully understand why they do this, because every time a big company says something, whether it’s Rockstar, EA, Ubisoft, or whatever, it gets analyzed and often received negatively. From their perspective, it is therefore best if they keep their mouths shut

The public and their hasty reactions to news are partly to blame for why Rockstar reveals so little. “It’s better if they stay silent,” Vermeij believes.
What about the leaks? The leaks that brought material to the public in 2022 and also recently are “usually not such a big deal,” says the developer. However, he can understand the public’s excitement about them.
Given the few pieces of information Rockstar gives to players, the immense interest is understandable. Every new bit of information is therefore gratefully received, even if it comes in the form of leaks. Obbe Vermeij also has bad news for you: He thinks GTA 6 could disappoint players on the first day.
