Practical test in comparison
In the following section, I will compare the Kone XP Air with the most well-known competitors:
- With the G502X Lightspeed
- and the Razer Basilisk Ultimate.
I will also take a look at the in-house competition. For all three mice, you currently pay around 150 euros.
Roccat Kone XP Air vs Logitech G502X Lightspeed
How do the mice compare? The Kone XP Air still appears more playful and colorful than the rather conservative G502X Lightspeed. After several weeks with the XP models, I really like the design, but that is not crucial for gameplay.
In terms of the mouse wheel, it’s a draw: Although the G502X offers an additional advantage with its free-running mouse wheel, I find scrolling with the XP series simply more pleasant. In terms of battery life, the point goes to Logitech, as Roccat cannot match the 200 hours of battery life.
I also prefer Logitech’s software, which feels more modern and organized. The two main buttons on top are easier to reach than those on the Kone XP, which is simply due to the size.
While Logitech’s G502X Lightspeed does not have a mouse dock, it can be charged via wireless technology with a mouse pad. However, this special mouse pad will cost around 100 euros, making it more expensive than the Kone XP Air with a dock or Razer’s Basilisk Ultimate.

Kone XP Air vs Razer Basilisk Ultimate
How do the mice compare? In design, the Basilisk Ultimate is similarly understated as Logitech’s G502X.
When it comes to the mouse wheel, it’s also a draw. The scrolling resistance can be adjusted from the underside but generally feels stiffer than the Kone XP’s wheel. However, Razer has already shown in the test of the MMO mouse, the Naga V2 Pro, that there is a new mouse wheel ready for release.
Razer installs a better sensor (20,000 vs 19,000 DPI) with the Focus+, but in practice, this is hardly noticeable. The battery life is also a draw since both mice need to be charged after about the same amount of time.
However, I find Roccat’s docking station significantly better than Razer’s model. But Razer has now introduced a successor with the Chroma Dock.
Kone XP Air vs Kone XP
How do the mice compare? Same sensor, similar features: With the exception of the wireless function, the docking station, and the RGB lighting, the two mice are essentially identical.
If you do not own either of the two mice and are considering purchasing one, then the biggest advantage of the Kone XP Air is the wireless feature. However, this is also reflected in the price: if you currently pay around 90 euros for the Kone XP, you will pay about 170 euros for the Air model – almost double.
Conclusion
For whom is the mouse suitable? Anyone looking for a well-crafted and versatile gaming mouse will receive a successful, if not perfect, successor to the Kone AIMO Remastered with the Kone XP. In addition, it is a successful wireless version of the Kone XP. Due to the many buttons, the mouse is suitable for various genres.

What alternatives are there?
- Logitech G502 Hero is a very good all-round mouse with few notable weaknesses. You can also swap out the weight and get a sleeker design. The Lightspeed model also has a wireless version of the mouse.
- Roccat Kone Aimo Remastered: The predecessor with excellent ergonomics, nice lighting, and a precise sensor. The weight of this mouse cannot be changed, and there is also no special sniper button. You can already get the mouse on offer for 30 euros.
- Razer Basilisk: Often referred to as a clone of the G502, this gaming mouse offers you good ergonomics. As an Ultimate model, you even get wireless functionality for a high price. The Basilisk V3 has also been released as a new edition of the mouse.
- SteelSeries Rival 5: Also a good all-rounder with many features and a stylish design. However, the ergonomics are not optimally solved for small hands. You can read the test of the Rival 5 on MeinMMO.
