2019 will bring some massive changes to Warframe again. This includes new Warframes, a space combat system, an epic story, and a new combat system. In the following paragraphs, you will find more details about the planned changes.
General Innovations in 2019
These innovations and changes will take place sometime in 2019:
Melee Combat 3.0
A major update, which is to be released in several parts throughout 2019, is a revised melee combat system. Melee combat should fit more naturally into the game and become even more intuitive.
Additionally, they want to fundamentally change the combo and modification system. The update will be implemented gradually per weapon category, allowing for easier feedback responses.
More Accessible Gameplay
Warframe is rightly considered complicated and cumbersome. New players find it hard to get in and need help from experienced veterans to understand everything right away. They finally want to change this and redesign the game so that it is not a closed book for newcomers.
Technical Improvements
Throughout the year, Warframe will continue to be optimized. Moreover, support for DirectX 9 and 32-bit systems will be dropped.
What’s Coming in Spring 2019
In spring 2019, a lot of new content will kick off.
Three New Warframes
Three new Warframes are currently in development. So far, we know the names of two of them, Hildryn and Wisp. Hildryn will be a massive female frame reminiscent of Zarya from Overwatch. She will use heavy weapons and consume her shields instead of energy.
Only a picture of Wisp is visible. Her stature is the opposite of Hildryn and she is likely to be a more agile frame.
New Fortuna Expansion
In early 2019, another update for Fortuna is expected. It’s called Deck 12 – Exploiter and is supposed to feature an event, a boss, and a big load of lore according to the developers.
Jupiter “Gas City” Overhaul
“Gas City” refers to the Jupiter maps. They will be thoroughly revised and redesigned in 2019. It’s not just a simple facelift. The mission structure will fundamentally change, and there will also be “things” attacking from outside.
Event “Wolf of Saturn Six” and Overhauls of Challenges and Alerts
A suitable event will be held for the new Saturn maps. Additionally, they want to introduce a new type of daily challenges and alerts that focus more on storytelling.
New Story “The New War”
The story, which was put on hold after the last update “Sacrifice”, will continue with “The New War”. There is also a cool new trailer, which you should only watch if you have already played Sacrifice. Spoiler Alert!

Mid-year, the highly anticipated Railjack update since TennoCon 2018 will finally be released. In it, you can control massive spaceships and fight against other ships in orbit.

Planes of Duviri
What lies behind this name is still unclear. However, it is supposed to involve a new enemy faction coming to Warframe. Additionally, this update is part of the larger story of Warframe.
It looks like Warframe will also grow significantly and become even cooler in 2019.
