The Twitch streamer Ashkan “TF Blade” Homayouni wants to set a record in League of Legends and become number 1 in solo queue in every country in the world. His current attempt in Korea is failing. A ban from Riot Korea catches him. He thinks it is racism, but a Korean streamer explains to him what he did wrong.
This is TF Blade’s plan: The Twitch streamer travels to a country for several weeks, sets up camp there, and plays intensely in the ranked solo queue of LoL until he is the best in that country and ranks number 1. This is extremely entertaining for his Twitch viewers.
He has reached the number 1 goal on 4 servers: on both EU servers, in North America, and on LAS, in South America. But attempts to extend the record repeatedly fail due to cultural problems and the temperament of the streamer.
Now he traveled – despite the coronavirus – to South Korea and worked on his ascent to the top there. The Korean solo queue is considered the toughest in LoL worldwide. Again, tens of thousands watched him on average while he attempted his ascent. In the last 30 days, TF Blade was the fifth largest channel on Twitch overall, with an average of 17,168 viewers.
The top laner traveled to Korea about a month ago and was doing strong there. In the meantime, he was ranked 115 in Korea, as the goal of becoming number one was already within reach.
TF Blade escalates in the LoL chat: It wasn’t that bad
This costs him the record: TF Blade has been banned from LoL in Korea. He lost his nerves in a LoL match on March 5 and typed several pages in the chat log, criticizing the jungler.
TF Blade was playing Jax as a top laner, but his jungler misbehaved in TF Blade’s eyes. A long chat log over 3 pages shows that TF Blade must have typed like a machine gun.
He asks:
- “Why does the jungler have to be so bad?”
- “Is he stupid?”
- His invade was “dog shit”
When the LoL ban from Riot Korea later came, the Twitch streamer could not believe it. TF Blade believes that the ban is unfair. He said nothing serious to the jungler.
The Twitch streamer even believes that Riot has it out for him and that it is already racist.
No racism, but cultural differences
How do others see it? The Korean Twitch streamer Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae commented on this. However, he believes that the ban is justified. In Korea, there are different standards than in North America. Here, people are very concerned about keeping a clean chat.
Many Koreans are experiencing someone who speaks English for the first time and are confronted with such swear words for the first time, which they only know from television.
Also, the accounts of Rito that TF Blade plays with are under special observation.
TF Blade announced that he would abandon his record attempt in South Korea and fly home.
- This is the second time that TF Blade has to prematurely abandon such a record. The last time he lost his nerves in the Turkey: He called the players there dogs.
- On Twitch, TF Blade was once involved in a strange ban regarding how he pronounced a certain word.
