Riot Games has announced that with Patch 11.24, they will be adjusting the balance in League of Legends. They are unhappy with some runes and items in LoL that they recognized as “too strong” during the Pre-Season 2022. The top laner Camille is also receiving the nerf hammer.
This is the situation:
- League of Legends is currently “between seasons”, a somewhat crazy time when one season has ended but the next has not yet started. During the Pre-Season, balance isn’t taken too seriously, and crazy concepts are tested out.
- Riot Games has now looked at how the Pre-Season is progressing and has a few changes planned.
- It especially affects the champion Camille. There will also be some changes to items and runes.

What is the problem with Camille? Camille has already been a strong pick for the top lane. In the Pre-Season, the LoL developers discovered new builds for her and are now using “Ignite” instead of the standard skill “Flash” for her.
Additionally, there were system changes to dragons. Overall, this has led to the heroine being so strong in the top lane. One reason is the high mobility of the fencer.
Camille will therefore receive nerfs in Patch 11.24. The exact details of these nerfs are not yet known. RiotPhlox only mentioned in the preview what they want to weaken, adjust, and strengthen.
What else will be nerfed? The keystone “Predator” will be nerfed, a rune in LoL that grants bonus speed. Additionally, the rune “Glacial Augment”, which can slow down opponents, is also affected.
Apparently, mobility and slowing down are currently the key factors for successful kills in LoL.
As Dotesports knows, “Predator” has always been too dominant in LoL and is the rune of choice for many. “Glacial Augment” has only recently gained popularity and is considered so strong that it is urgently needed. Apparently, LoL wants to create more variety here.
Moreover, three mythic items and one legendary item will be nerfed, which have been viewed as too strong.
According to Dotesports, Crown of the Shattered Queen and Evenshroud have caused other mythic items from tanks and mages to be rarely used. The Frostfire Gauntlet has a strong synergy with the rune “Glacial Augment” – and Cosmic Drive is another speed buff item causing problems.
Additionally, the “Dragon Soul” from the Chemtech Dragon will be nerfed. This is a buff that has proven problematic. Players can revive themselves for a short time after dying, like the champ Sion. But apparently, they then run amok and kill wildly. This is apparently not intended.

How is this being discussed? Generally rather positively. On reddit, a user says: “What’s going on? It feels like someone at Riot has woken up and started taking care of the issues that are causing problems.”
It’s almost crazy how many of the changes seem reasonable.
When is the patch coming? Patch 11.24 will be the first patch after the start of the 2022 Pre-Season. The update is expected on December 8.
