Behind the scenes, dramas are unfolding in the Free2Play MMORPG Rift . The world’s strongest guild Apotheosys has concluded their time with Rift – and they are leaving no good words for the operator Trion Worlds.
The advice “Say goodbye quietly” is not taken to heart by Apotheosys. The guild is ending their successful run in Rift (with 35 World Firsts) at the new year with flames, insults, and nasty videos. The short version: “Rift is great, we love the game, but Trion Worlds is the worst.”
In a long video, they showcase the game’s weaknesses and the unfavorable direction in which Rift is heading. The raids are buggy, leveling through changes to the systems has become impossible, and PvP is dead.
Negative words are clearly found for Trion Worlds – they are described as “greedy, childish, rude Nazis”.
Rift is dead
After the video, the creator claims to have been banned within 7 hours despite the holiday. On reddit, they deleted his posts, and the local moderator apparently should consider a job at Trion Worlds.
They are really not pleased with Trion Worlds and they probably don’t like being called “Nazis” either.
Alongside these aggressive tones, they also laid out in a lengthy post (and still quite aggressively) all the “professional” issues they have with the game that it is not about providing good content, but has become a “Free2Play Money Grab”. And whoever openly addresses this is silenced by a dictatorial system. Rift is dead. They have lost all hope for improvement. No miracles will happen anymore. It will only get worse from now on.
Many from the guild have played Rift since 2011 and it makes them sad to leave, but the creators of the game left them no choice.
