Fans of EVE Online wish to engage in even larger battles. However, this won’t be easy to implement.
At the end of January, a huge battle in the space MMO EVE Online was expected. There was talk of the first space battle that was projected to cost a million dollars. It was anticipated that ships worth this amount would be destroyed.
However, “Time Dilation,” the “deliberate lag” of the game, dashed any hopes for this event. More than 6,000 players participated in the battle, which overwhelmed the servers.

There are small improvements
Players hope that the developers at CCP Games will address this, as they desire gigantic space battles, which would represent a significant event in EVE Online each time.
The developers have already stated that they are working on it and have made some improvements to the large Upwell structures, which are often the target of powerful attacks. Optimizations have been made to the timers and combat mechanics, which should make the battles somewhat more enjoyable.

Huge space battles remain problematic
This doesn’t mean, however, that huge space battles with 6,000 or more players are now playable. The problem is not with the game mechanics that need adjustment, but with the number of players.
Therefore, it is not so easy to ensure improvements here. CCP Games claims to have gathered useful feedback from the last battle and is working on solutions, but what these solutions will be and when they will arrive remains uncertain.
It is far from easy for the team to implement gigantic space battles in EVE Online in a way that the fights run smoothly and can be played well. One can only be curious about what solution the developers will come up with – and when that will be.
Currently, it sounds like the developers at CCP have a lot of respect for what happens when tens of thousands of ships want to participate in a battle simultaneously.
