After the sharpshooter from Revelation Online has already received a fun introductory video, it’s now the Blade Mage’s turn. This caster type impresses not only with tight robes but also with massive elemental damage.
In the first beta, the Blade Mage class was one of the most popular hero types in the game. A whopping 19 percent wanted to play the mage class with the sexy robes – only the also cool sharpshooter was similarly popular among players. But what can the Blade Mage actually do and why is he called that?
Sword and Sorcery!
Blade Mages are primarily the archetypical caster glass cannon DPS class that exists alongside the heavy armor tank in almost every online role-playing game. Blade Mages cast spells with the elements of fire, ice, and lightning. Each element has its own effects; for example, fire allows free applications of the same spells in combos, leading to particularly high DPS. Ice, again, is the classic control element that the Blade Mage uses to stop and slow down his opponents.
Especially cool: Many of the Mage’s spells are portrayed with swords that the wizard summons and sends down on the enemies like a razor-sharp hailstorm: Ouch! Blade Mages prefer to fight from a distance and can temporarily protect themselves in melee combat with defensive effects. Still, they like it better when a heavy tank protects them and their sexy robes are not soiled. More information and examples of the Blade Mage’s power can be found in a video at the end. By the way, the Blade Mage reminds me strongly of the Esper from WildStar or the Wielders of Power from Blade & Soul in style and gameplay.
