Naica Online (November 10, 2020 – March 5, 2021)
Genre: MMORPG | Developer: Naïca | Platforms: PC, Android, iOS | Payment Model: Free2Play
What kind of game was it? Naica Online was a 2D MMORPG with a pixel look. Visually, it resembled classics such as Tibia or Old School RuneScape. In character creation, you could choose from five different races with which to experience adventures in the Cerulean Forest.
Naica Online did not use classes but relied on skill trees where you could allocate your points freely. In the game, you could expect:
- World bosses
- Dungeons that you could explore together with other players
- PvP duels against other players
A unique feature of the MMORPG was the reputation system. There were two gods – Naïde and Icaon – to whom you could dedicate your successes during your adventure. This reputation was supposed to influence gameplay and the story.
What led to its failure? As the developers revealed, Naïca was their first project. However, there were numerous problems right at the beta start. The game suffered from several bugs, and with new updates that fixed some issues, new bugs were often introduced.
In the end, Naïca Online was simply not profitable for the company, which is why work will not continue. The developers reported that they spent around 2.5 years on development before the beta started.
The studio, however, did not completely dissolve. Two individuals are reportedly currently working on a new project related to Naica.
What are the best memories? Naica Online was a niche title and did not get much attention. Smaller highlights included the music, the playable non-human races, and interactions with NPCs.

Are there alternatives or successors? As previously mentioned, Naica Online resembled titles like Tibia, Old School RuneScape, or Dragon Eye. These titles might also be the right starting point for fans.
