Special Case: Crowfall
Genre: MMORPG | Developer: ArtCraft Entertainment | Platforms: PC | Payment model: Buy2Play
What kind of game was it? In 2015, Crowfall was announced as a game that was supposed to be like a season of Game of Thrones. Various campaigns were planned that players could win and thus gain advantages in the Eternal Kingdoms.
The Eternal Kingdoms are a persistent social world where there is no PvP, but players can present their achievements and earn fame and recognition. The other campaigns were supposed to regularly end and return with new rules.
Additionally, a broad class system was announced, with 11 classes and a total of 33 subclasses. However, this took a lot of development time.
What is the special case? Crowfall was a flop and is supposed to undergo a complete overhaul. Officially, it was stated that operating live and developing new content simultaneously proved to be too demanding. Therefore, the servers were shut down on November 22, 2022.
However, the developers plan to bring the MMORPG back. Whether that will actually happen remains uncertain.
