With a Respec in Baldur’s Gate 3 you can easily customize your character by resetting it and choosing a different class. How to do this, you can find out on MeinMMO.
What does a Respec do in Baldur’s Gate 3? With a Respec, you can completely reset your class. A Respec allows you to redesign your character from level 1.
You don’t want to play a gloomy Warlock? No problem. You can immediately reskill to Cleric or Paladin and also choose a new subclass. No matter which of the 12 classes comes to mind.
You can even adjust your base stats if you’ve messed up or are not satisfied. So you can also easily just adjust the base stats – without changing the class. The best part is: Your experience points remain intact. For example, if you were a Warlock at level 3, you will spawn at level 1 and have all level-ups available again.
How does the Respec work? Reskilling your own class is less tricky than you might think. If you have already unlocked the NPC “The Withered”, he will assist you at the camp and offers his help for a mere 100 gold. When you start a conversation with him, you can decide on your character selection again through his dialogue options.
Larian Studios adds even more. You can not only customize your own character but also the Origin characters. But be aware that changing the class may not fit very well into the story of that character.
A servant of Shar is suddenly a Cleric of Life instead of Trickery? Not quite fitting, I think. The character’s story itself remains the same. Even if you make Gale a Barbarian, he will still be a master of magic in the story scenes.
You cannot reset this: What you cannot choose again with The Withered is your race. The race remains permanent for that character.
How to find the NPC “The Withered”
You will discover the NPC “The Withered” right at the beginning of the first act. You can find the NPC in the chapel in the damp crypt. The “Damp Crypt” can be found north of the waypoint “Overgrown Ruins” within the first hour of gameplay.
If you have successfully faced the challenges in the chapel, you will find the NPC “The Withered” at the end in a sarcophagus. After your conversation, he will permanently join the camp. With his services, you can also resurrect dead characters and summon cultists as hirelings.
Hirelings will assist you in combat, just like the Origin characters. The character level of the hireling is directly raised to your character’s level. However, the hirelings do not have a backstory.
