Shards Online
The pre-alpha 3 of the sandbox MMORPG Shards Online has started. Backers can try out some new features before the game transitions into the “real” alpha phase in early 2016. In this phase, three new maps will be integrated. The developers explain that they are approaching Shards Online differently than other MMO developers do with their games.
They will not create a gigantic, open game world where there will be little to do at launch. Instead, they are creating smaller “shards” and filling them with content. Over time, they will expand the universe with more and more shards so that players regularly have something new to do.
Star Citizen
The success story of the science fiction MMORPG Star Citizen continues, as the developers have now surpassed the 100 million US dollar mark through their ongoing crowdfunding campaign!In addition, Alpha 2.0 has now been rolled out to all backers. This allows anyone who financially contributes to the game to explore a small part of the game universe together with others, fly spaceships, exit into space, or land on space stations and engage in hot shooter battles. This gives a first taste of what Star Citizen will offer at release.
Shroud of the Avatar
The developers of the MMO single-player hybrid Shroud of the Avatar announce a major event with “(New) Britannia’s Next Top Model” where participants can win a lot of gold for the game in the model competition. Additionally, a new trailer has been released showcasing the world, and next week, Pre-Alpha 25 is set to start in time for Christmas.
The next version aims to focus more on new story content by integrating additional scenes relevant to the story. Furthermore, it should be possible to plant crops, and guild wars will be introduced.
