For the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil, Capcom hosted a showcase. In this context, it was announced, in addition to a crossover event with The Division 2, the standalone multiplayer shooter Resident Evil Re:Verse.
This is Re:Verse: Resident Evil Re:Verse is a classic arena shooter, whose graphic style somewhat resembles Borderlands and is played from a third-person perspective. Up to 6 players compete against each other in a round.
In the trailer, you can watch the first scenes:
You can choose from a selection of heroes and villains that many of you may know from earlier Resi parts. Heroes include Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, Leon S. Kennedy, and Chris Redfield, for example. The characters have different attributes and abilities.
Once you die, you can take on the role of nasty enemies like Nemesis or Jeff Baker and hunt other players. You will be able to test this in a closed beta.
All info about the Closed Beta
When does the beta start? On the official website, you can register for a beta test until January 25. The first round of the closed beta is scheduled to start on January 27.
On which platform will the beta appear? So far, the closed beta has only been announced for Xbox One and PS4. There is no mention of Next Gen and PC. Whether these will follow is currently unknown.
Free, but not for everyone
Resident Evil Re:Verse will be released as a standalone title but will be available for free under certain circumstances.
How do you get the game for free? According to Capcom, all buyers of Resident Evil 8 will receive the Re:Verse shooter for free. It will be released on May 7, 2021, for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PS5, and PS4. However, Capcom states on the website that the offer may not be permanently valid.
When will Resident Evil Re:Verse be released? Currently, no release date is known. It is certain that the multiplayer shooter will be released for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PS5, and PS4. However, the versions for PS5 and Xbox Series will correspond to the predecessor consoles (i.e., PS4 and Xbox One).
What do you think of the announcement? Are you interested in a Resi multiplayer shooter? Or are you more of a fan of classic single-player games?
